A colleague, Zoe is leaving this week after completing their short term contract.
The work they did was valued and appreciated by those they worked with, but I didn't work with them, and only crossed paths a handful of times as our office days did not overlap. The digital farewell card is now circulating with the option of financially contributing. I am happy to write a farewell message, but I am feeling an expectation to contribute to the gift.
My workplace is friendly, and we all get on well, and we have all in the past usually contributed to a gift, but I have become more discerning with my spending as my costs have increased.
What should I do?
